Submissions Terms and Conditions

Author’s Permission:
By submitting your (Author) work, you grant Kind Writers (Publisher) permission to consider and include it for publication in the upcoming issue, both in print and online.

Rights Acquired:
All rights revert to the Author upon publication. This agreement to publish does not deprive the Author of ownership of their Work but grants the Publisher First North American Serial Rights to publish said work. The Publisher may also reprint the Work in a special collected issue of Kind Writers Literary Magazine or anthology. If the work is selected as a Kind Writers Contest winner or notable mention, the publisher may select the work for online republication. If the Publisher selects the Author’s work for any form of republication, the Author will be notified in a timely manner. It is understood and agreed that the Publisher may only use this Work in the above-mentioned magazine or website.

Author’s Warranties, Representations, and Indemnities:
The Author warrants that they are the sole author of the Work and that the Work is original and unpublished. The Author also warrants, to the best of their knowledge, that the Work contains no matter unlawful in its content, nor does it violate the rights of any third party, that the rights granted in this contract are free and clear, and that the Author has full power to grant such rights to the Publisher.

On Competing Publication:
After acceptance of publication with the Publisher, the Author may republish their work with Kind Writers Literary Magazine credited as the initial publisher.

Changes in Text or Title:
The Publisher proudly stands by the Author’s Work and strives to maintain the author’s integrity. As such, the Publisher will make no major alterations to the Work’s text or title without the Author’s approval but reserves the right to make minor copy-editing changes. The Author will be notified of all changes and may refuse specific edits within two weeks. After two weeks, the Publisher will assume that all edits are approved.

Author’s Bio and Promotional Use of the Work:
The Author will send the Publisher a brief author’s bio of no more than 80 words to kindwriters09@gmail.com. Due to space constraints, the Publisher reserves the right to edit all biographies longer than 80 words. The Publisher is happy to credit the material of the Author in any way the Author wishes. The Publisher may feature brief excerpts of the work (no more than 200 words or 1 stanza) online or on social networks for promotional purposes. Where applicable, the Author will be tagged or credited.

Author’s Copies:
For the rights granted above, the Publisher will provide one complimentary copy of the print issue in which the Author’s work is featured, which will be mailed within thirty days of publication. If the author resides outside of the U.S., the author agrees to cover the international shipping costs or may choose to receive a digital copy instead. Additional copies are available at a discounted price.
