• Winner(s) will be chosen by an established artist of the community​.

• 1st place will receive a prize of $150.

• 2nd place (honorable mention) will receive a prize of $50.

• Winner(s) will be featured in our magazine and on our website.

• Each genre has the same submission guidelines as our general submissions.

• All genres will be submitting to the same contest (there are not separate prizes for each genre).

• Submissions for our Kind Writers Contest are automatically considered for our general submissions.

• Must include a brief biography that highlights your acts of kindness in the community.

• Reading fee is $10.

• In order to make our contest submissions more accessible, we provide the "donate what you can" option through our website:

  • Attach PayPal receipt to the submission e-mail (you may also attach the receipt to your Submittable general submission)

For all submissions:

• Submit through the following options:

  • Submittable​​

  • E-mail submissions to submit@kindwriters.com

• E-mail subject line - specify the type of submission. Ex: "Nonfiction General Submission."

• Cover page: your name, address, phone number, brief bio​, and email address.

• Format: 12-point font, double spaced (except poetry), numbered pages.

• Submissions must be in a single document or PDF.

• Comic versions of any genre are welcome.

• Submissions in Spanish are welcome.

• Multiple submissions are welcome (must pay a separate reading fee per contest submission).

• By submitting to Kind Writers, you give Kind Writers permission to publish your work with the following publishing terms and conditions.

Poetry:

• Up to 5 poems (maximum 10 pages total).

• We welcome spoken word:

  • Must include written format and a link to video or audio on a social media platform. 

​

Fiction: 

• Up to 3,500 words.

• Double spaced.

​

Nonfiction:

• Up to 3,500 words.

• Double spaced.

​

Art:

• Up to 5 pieces of art, including photography.

• Include details of the medium, including any modifications made to photos.

• Must be in an easily accessible format, such as .jpg​​
